Good and Bad Days

There are good and bad days.

A good day consists mainly of good meals, long walks, light conversations, cool weather, accomplished tasks, and early bedtimes. It is when prayers have countless thank yous, with dry eyes shut until the break of dawn.

A bad day, on the other hand, is sometimes not the opposite of its counterpart. It may consist of good meals, long walks, light conversations, cool weather, and accomplished tasks; but bedtimes are always the hardest. It is when your heart speaks to you the loudest amidst the silence. It is when prayers always start with whys and end in deep sighs. It is when pillows, damp with tears, feel cold and hard. It is when sleep is a 30-minute shuteye to rest your swollen eyes.

Both may last the entire day. Sometimes, the good days outweigh the bad ones. We dread having more bad days than good. It is a balance of sorts. Good days come and go, they say. But bad days don't linger too much, they assure.

There are days when everything falls into place, and there are days when things are beyond your control. There are days when you want to cry and sob in a corner, and days when you want to spread the love and hope. Sometimes, you question, "Why can't I have more good days than bad?" Some people say it's a choice. Others say it's chance. Some say it's both, but ultimately, they say you're in control of the situation. But what happens when you lose control? What happens when chance is not in your favor?

There are days when you feel whole, and days when you feel broken. There are days when you pick up the pieces, and days when you glue them together. Sometimes, some people make it harder by stepping on those pieces. Other days, you just can't see the pieces, period. There are times that you see the pieces but choose to ignore them. Or maybe, some pieces simply need replacing.

But who knows what the tomorrow holds? Good and bad days happen. Essentially, all days need a good fight, and a good fight needs a strong-willed fighter. There will come a time when a day will consist of bad meals, exhausting walks, bothering conversations, sweltering hot weather, unfinished tasks, and sleep-deprived nights. And even though things do not go your way, with hope and love in your heart that continuously fights, you can still tell yourself that it is indeed a good day.
